Who are Bright Shadows?

Bright Shadows are an acoustic duo comprised up of Yorkshire-born Helen Beth and Sri Lankan Brit Raji K. They met on the Reading music scene in early 2013 and soon after began to fuse their individual and at times contrasting styles of dark acoustic rock and upbeat pop-folk, forming Bright Shadows in February 2014.

They began writing material built around their powerful dual lead vocals and the fruits of these early efforts can be found on their debut EP, Diffusion, released in August 2015. With discernible recollections of Fleetwood Mac, Natalie Merchant and even the Red Hot Chili Peppers, it combines bright, harmonic pop and driving rock. Yet after a busy period of gigs, festivals and radio appearances in 2015, they decided any future record should reflect the distinctively acoustic and harmony-led sound that was developing live.

With this in mind, Will Woodward came on board as percussionist for a string of live performances in addition to studio work, and they began recording their debut album in January 2017 at Silver Street Studios in Reading, under the helm of producer Graeme Rawson. Three singles have so far been released from the album: 'Afraid of Bliss', She's A Ghost', and 'If You Let Me.' The songs have earned them airplay on BBC Radio Berkshire as well as an award nomination for Best Duo on the local music scene. The album is scheduled for release in the summer of 2018.
